Please Volunteer –We need
your HELP! National Payroll Week –
Sept 1-5, 2008 We need your ideas and help planning the events
for NPW. We need a community event
that our members can participate in.
Any ideas. Send them to the
chapter mailbox. Can you help send
out proclamations to the various cities and the State? Any and all suggestions for NPW are
welcome. Bunco Party Have you ever played Bunco or know what Bunco
is? In talking with members several
of you play Bunco and we have a couple of resident experts willing to show us
novices how to play the game. It will
be a fun evening but we need a place to have a Chapter Bunco Party. Please let us know if you know of any
places or if you are interested in playing and learning Bunco. Great Networking opportunity. APA News: As the nation’s leader in payroll education since
1982, APA is pleased to introduce an exciting new extension of our
business—the launch of the American Accounts Payable Association (AAPA) and
an electronic magazine, AP Journal Online! With the AP profession being so
closely tied to Payroll, this endeavor is a natural outgrowth for the
APA. Our managing editor, Frank Mendelson (fmendelson@americanaccountspayable.org) is eager to work
with your colleagues to help them publish short, practitioner-oriented
articles that capture their experience and news on those forward-looking
issues that advance the field. Please
contact him directly or visit www.americanaccountspayable.org/signup to suggest article
topics or volunteer to write an article.
The cake was delicious! Page

RELAY
FOR LIFE JUNE 20TH-Recap The event took take place at the Oak Brook Park
District starting at 6pm on Friday and ran until 6am on Saturday morning.
There were dancing lessons with the DJ.
A balloon man for the kids and a lot of walking. The evening began
with the Survivor Lap. But for many people who attend
Relay For Life®, one of the most moving parts of the event is the Ceremony of
Hope. As the light dims over campsites and team members complete laps, the
night is brightened by the glow of lighted bags called luminaria, each of
which has a special meaning. Some luminaria celebrates the survivorship of
people who have battled cancer and lived to tell the tale. Many commemorate
the lives of those who have been lost to this disease. All represent a person
who has been profoundly affected by cancer and the family and friends who
continue to be touched by that experience. Our Chapter teams have collected a combined total
of $4,878. There is still time to support your chapter. Please consider
making a donation to the team or your favorite team member. The website is: WWW.RELAYFORLIFEOHB.COM If you have any questions, feel free to contact
Katie Staffeldt at 630-742-7747 or send her an email at coasterk8@yahoo.com

Consumer Alert The
IRS warns taxpayers to be on the alert for e-mails and
phone calls they may receive which claim to come from the IRS or other
federal agency and which mention their tax refund or economic stimulus
payment. These are almost certainly a scam whose purpose is to obtain personal
and financial information — such as name, Social Security number, bank
account and credit card or even PIN numbers — from taxpayers
which can be used by the scammers to commit identity theft. The
e-mails and calls usually state that the IRS needs the
information to process a refund or stimulus payment or deposit it
into the taxpayer's bank account. The e-mails often contain links or
attachments to what appears to be the IRS Web site or an
IRS "refund application form." However genuine in appearance,
these phonies are designed to elicit the information the scammers are
looking for. The
IRS does not send taxpayers e-mails about their tax
accounts. Additionally, the way to get a tax refund or stimulus payment,
or to arrange for a direct deposit, is to file a tax
return. IRS.Gov Website
