Welcome to the Chicago Chapter of the American Payroll Association

In today's rapidly changing payroll environment, payroll professionals need to have an excellent source for obtaining the payroll information needed to make correct and informed decisions. Hopefully by using this website and the American Payroll Association (www.americanpayroll.org) website, Chicago area payroll professionals will have the resources to obtain payroll legislative and regulatory updates and valuable information regarding the educational tools that are available to become successful payroll professionals.

The main focus of the Chicago Chapter is payroll education by holding quarterly meetings and conducting Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) review classes that provide networking opportunities and give payroll professionals the chance to earn educational credits for attendance. The Chicago Chapter supports other charitable activities by volunteering time and making donations. During National Payroll Week the Chapter organizes for the members, a blend of educational, networking, and community service opportunities.

Annually, toward the end of the year, the Chicago Chapter members and supporters of the payroll profession gather in the evening to attend a Holiday Party, donate new toys or clothing to needy children, and celebrate the accomplishments of members, volunteers, and sponsors. Check this home page often to become a successful payroll professional. The Chicago Chapter board hopes to meet you at our meetings or classes by your referring to our Events Calendar and attending the planned activities. The Chicago Chapter is a nonprofit association and is an autonomous and independent Chapter of the American Payroll Association.

Thank you for visiting the Chicago Chapter's website.

Chicago Chapter Payroll Assn - Off the Street Club Camp - 7/16/09 Evening Visit, 6:30PM - 9:00PM

Ralph Campagna, Executive Director, and Arnett Morris, Assistant Director, are inviting Chicago Payroll members and their guests to an evening at the Off the Street Club’s beautiful Camp, the kids’ priceless safe summer refuge, in Wheaton, IL on Thursday, July 16, 2009 (6:30 PM – 9:00 PM).
OTSC children and staff welcome and greet guests with cheerful hugs, smiles and refreshing lemonade under the shade of the Camp’s venerable oak trees which give welcome respite from the summer sun.
While guests are arriving, everyone gets a chance to talk with the kids and each other,  All guests are then invited to watch the kids enjoy themselves at their swimming pool with water slide (guests can also bring their swim suits and join the kids in the pool).  There will also be a cookout for all guests and kids, dessert tables, and finally everyone is invited to sit by the bonfire.
The Chicago Chapter Payroll board looks forward to seeing you at the Camp, if your schedule permits you to visit with us. Reserve your space! Call the Chapter Helpline at:

Chicago Chapter Community Outreach Functions
Ronald McDonald House Charity - 2008 Project & Continuing to 2009
The Chicago Chapter members’ generosity and dedication to giving back was seen in the overwhelming support of the pop top drive for Ronald McDonald House Charity.  On Sunday, February 15, 2009, chapter members delivered a very large tub of tabs to the Ronald McDonald House facility in Maywood, IL.  A special thank-you to all the members who participated in this project during 2008.  The chapter will continue to support the RMH through pop top collections in 2009.  Keep saving the pop tabs and bring them to any of our chapter events. We will share the progress of the collections in the newsletter. Let’s see if we cannot break our last year’s efforts!

Off the Street Club—Educational Support Project for 2009
The Off the Street Club is an after school program provided for children on the West side of Chicago. The youth of this neighborhood face daily challenges in the poorest and most crime ridden area...  Ralph Campagna, Executive Director of the Club, has been providing a safe haven for these children to partake in after school programs -
be an after school place where kids can be kids, where they laugh and play, relax and have fun, and learn traditional American values.  At the Club each year over 3,000 very needy but very wonderful boys and girls embrace the value system of Chicago’s oldest club for at-risk youngsters and reject threats of the violent street gangs which compete for every child.  These children desire to get a good education and see their dreams come true. In the past we have supported this organization with the annual toy drive at our holiday event.  To further support this group the chapter is starting an educational fund. At all chapter meetings and events, a 50/50 raffle will be held. The chapter will match the raised funds and present the check to Ralph and the children at the annual holiday party in November, 2009.
Save the date -  RELAY FOR LIFE 2009

This year Team CAPA will be participating in the Cancer Relay for Life in Westchester, IL.  The dates are Saturday, June 27th to Sunday, June 28th at Mayfair Park.  Members of the chapter can sign up at
www.relayforlifewestchester.com to become members of the team.  The American Cancer Society Relay For Life® event is held each year, across the nation and it brings together entire communities to take part in the fight against cancer.  It’s a time and place where people come to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives. Thanks in part to the donations from Relay For Life and other events, the American Cancer Society is saving lives, helping those touched by cancer, and empowering people to fight this disease all over the world.   Katie Staffeldt has again volunteered to be the team captain - thank-you Katie!
Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby is coming
In 2008, the chapter began supporting the Illinois Special Olympics through volunteer efforts in selling Rubber ducks for the annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby. Splashdown is set for the 1:00 p.m., at the Columbus Drive Bridge in downtown Chicago on August 14, 2009.  In the upcoming months Chicago Chapter volunteer opportunities will be shared as we support the Special Olympics.
If there is an organization that is dear to your heart, let us know!
